OPAC Configuration Wizards

The Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) Configuration policies allow you to perform the following functions.

The OPAC Manager is a SirsiDynix Symphony tool for designing, customizing, and managing public access windows and options. This includes configuring reference databases and applications available through the Knowledge Portal, as well as creating customized searches for library patrons. The OPAC Manager tailors Public Access windows to suit individual terminal and graphical user environments through a simple question and answer format. The OPAC Manager can create a Gateway based on the library’s information resources. This includes reference databases external to the library’s own catalog and resources available on external networks. In essence, the Gateway is a view of the library’s information universe.

Click the OPAC Configuration wizard group icon, and the following wizards appear.

• Network Wizard
• Name Mapping Wizard
• Information Desk Wizard
• Recommended Reading Wizard
• Request Format Wizard
• Request List Wizard
• Request Status Wizard
• Request Type Wizard
• Z3950 Format Wizard

Policy lists and policy values can be downloaded to files on your workstation. See the Export Policies Helper topic for more information.

Only one user at a time can work with policies. This is a safeguard to prevent users from modifying the same policy at the same time.
