Fee Map Wizard

The Fee Map policy allows you to define how maximum group fees will be applied to groups of users for the libraries on your system. You can define any number of user profile and library combinations and apply maximum fee groups to these combinations.

For example, the following maximum fee map is defined for a library.

Name

Description

Library

User Profile

Fee for Group

DEFAULT

Default maximum fees

ALL

ALL

ADULT30

ADULTS

Maximum fee for adult users

MAIN

ADULT

ADULT7, ADULT30, ADULT31

CHILD

Maximum fees for children

MAIN

CHILD

CHILD7, CHILD30, CHILD31

Since SirsiDynix Symphony searches for “matching” maps from the bottom of the fee map list up, the order of the map lines is important. Additionally, it is important to define a DEFAULT map line for ALL libraries and ALL user profiles as the first line of the fee map. If no specific user profile and library combination is found in the map, the default maximum group fee will be applied.

Fee map policies are order-sensitive. Since SirsiDynix Symphony looks for “matching” fee maps from the bottom of the policy list up, the order of the fee map lines is important. See Policy Operations for Map Policies

From the List Policies window, you can create, display, modify, copy, or remove the Fee Map policies. Click Close to exit the wizard.

Attributes

The following attributes are defined for the Fee Map policies.

Name

This attribute uniquely identifies a specific Fee Map policy. This name is ten characters or less, and may not include spaces or punctuation, except for dash (-), underscore (_), and dollar sign ($). Additionally, the pipe character (|) may not be used.

Description

This attribute provides more information about the policy and its use by the library. The description may be up to 60 characters in length. Although the Description attribute may contain spaces and punctuation, the pipe character (|) cannot be used.

Library

The Library attribute in a fee map entry refers to a Library policy name. The maximum fee controls defined in each fee map entry may apply to one library or to ALL. Select a Library from the list. Use the Library Policy helper (Library Wizard) to make changes to existing Library policies

Depending on how your system is configured, the Library attribute will either refer to the charging library or owning library.

User Profile

The User Profile attribute in a fee map entry refers to a User Profile policy name. The maximum fee controls defined in each fee map entry may apply to one User Profile or to ALL. Select a User Profile from the list.

Fee for Group

This attribute lists the Maximum Group Fee policies that will be applied to the specific combination of Library and User Profile in this fee map. Use the Policy List gadget to select Maximum Group Fee policies.
