Collection Exchange

Overview

Collection Exchange allows you to share resources among libraries, generally within the same region. This module allows an objective selection of materials because the system selects where the materials move and ensures that they are distributed in an equitable manner.

Using Collection Exchange, libraries with fewer resources can have access to materials that they would not otherwise have. It also ensures that your patrons regularly receive a new selection of materials to browse.

With Collection Exchange, you can set up items that you want to exchange with exchange types and exchange categories along with other information. You can determine what percentage of each of these exchange types and exchange categories to exchange.

For example, if you want 10 percent of Fiction to be exchanged but only 5 percent of the Bestsellers to be exchanged, you can set these different percentages for each exchange library. SirsiDynix Symphony performs these calculations to ensure a fair distribution of items and a good turnover rate for these materials. This ensures that each library is receiving appropriate materials for its area.
