Exchange Items Wizard Properties

The system administrator can change current system settings in the Exchange Items wizard using the Set Properties window. The Exchange Items wizard allows you to set the following properties.

Display Property Page

You can choose when to display the Exchange Items wizard’s Set Properties window by selecting one of the following options.

Wizard Startup - Displays the Set Properties window the first time you access the wizard until you end the wizard session or log off the client.
Never - Does not display the Set Properties window. If you select Never and you want to open the Set Properties window, point to the wizard’s toolbar button, right-click, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu.

Behavior

On the Behavior tab, you can set up your system to allow these variations in the wizard process.

Apply profile quotas for Modify Destination — Lets you specify whether profile quotas apply for modify destination.
Trap Hold — Lets you specify whether exchange items can be trapped to fill a hold rather than exchanged. If checked, when attempting to exchange an item having outstanding holds, the hold information dialog that appears allows the operator to trap the item to fill the hold following normal hold procedures (typically, by either making the hold available for routing to the hold shelf or putting the hold in transit to the holds pickup library).
Remove Hold — Lets you specify whether holds for exchange items can be removed or cancelled. If checked, when attempting to exchange an item having outstanding holds, the hold information dialog that appears allows the operator to remove holds for the item by selecting all holds or individual holds for the title. (See Remove Item Hold Wizard).
Continue with Exchange — Lets you specify whether holds for exchange items can be ignored. If checked, when attempting to exchange an item having outstanding holds, the hold information dialog that appears allows the operator to continue with the exchange of the item to another library, as long as the item does not have an available hold against it or is not the last copy that could fill a hold.
Play Sound When Error — Lets you specify whether a sound plays when an error occurs. If checked, you can browse and select the sound file to use.

Defaults

On the Defaults tab, you can specify the defaults to use in the Exchange Items wizard. These fields apply to the Profiles tab.

In the Default Exchange Library list, select the default exchange library from the drop-down list. The choices are Previous and Originating:
Previous - If an exchange library cannot be found, SirsiDynix Symphony will suggest that you send the item to the last library that had the item in exchange.
Originating - If an exchange library cannot be found, SirsiDynix Symphony will suggest that you send the item to the library that originally owned it.

If the system cannot find an appropriate library to send the item, the default exchange library is used.

If this is the first exchange for the item and there is no previous library, then the item will go to the originating library, no matter what option is selected.

Select the Notify check box if you want a message to display before sending the item.

In the Record View field, you can select All, Brief, Full, or Specified Entries. These selections control the display of bibliographic information that you will view when exchanging an item.

If you select Specified Entries, the Entries field becomes active and you can type in the name of the entry that you choose.
