Publication Cycle Gadget

The Publication Cycle field displays existing publication cycle data for the selected title and control record in an abbreviated alpha-numeric format. This gadget is used to display and define the publication cycle maintained in the title’s serial control record.

For example the following text displays in the Publication Cycle field.

1:M!1:D;15:D!15:D.7:M.0:Y;15:D.8:M.0:Y

If you select the gadget and click OK, the publication cycle code is translated to the following publication cycle text.

Published 1st, 15th of each month, except Jul Day 15, Aug Day 15

To define a publication cycle

Default publication cycle values are based on the frequency of the bibliographic record. If there is no frequency associated with the record when you create the control, you can use the Replace Patterns helper to select an existing template. Templates provide a pattern with corresponding chronology, enumeration, and limit to help you get started.

If you need to create a complex publication cycle that is common to your library’s subscriptions, you may use the Make this Pattern a Template helper to save the pattern for use in other serial controls.
