Serial Control > Serial Control Toolkit > Expected Tab

Expected Tab

The Expected tab displays the issues for which prediction records have been generated, but for which all the copies have not yet been received. Each issue listed represents a Prediction record. When a serial control is created or modified, additional predictions may be created using the Create a Prediction tool. Alternately, you may be prompted in the wizard flow to use the Generate Predictions for Expected Issues step.

A list of all predicted issues displays in a table on the Expected tab, providing the following field information for each issue.

Additional issue details may be displayed from the button in the Receipt Status column of the Expected tab, or using the Show Issue Detail Helper.

From the Expected tab, the following tools appear, depending on the wizard you are using and how properties are set.

If an issue is received out of order from the Expected tab, the next expected issue will be the one following the issue just received.

The following fields are defined for the Expected tab.

Chronology

The Chronology field contains the date published on the issue. When generating prediction records, the chronology pattern value begins with the date of the next issue of prediction records you want to generate. Each subsequent chronology pattern value in a list of predicted issues will follow the same format, sequentially, of the first issue. The format for entering the originating date into the Chronology field is dependent on the name pattern stated in the Chronology Type field of the Patterns tab.

In order to type the prediction chronology information accurately into the Chronology field, you must know which Chronology Type was defined for this control record.

If the Chronology is the same as the Enumeration, both values may be entered, but only one appears.

For example, if Directory 2003 is typed in both the Enumeration and the Chronology fields, only Directory 2003 will display in the issue lists.

Date Expected

This field contains the expected receipt date of an issue as defined by the library. This field is used when generating prediction records, and will indicate the date that the next issue for this generated prediction is expected to be received by the library. Use the Calendar gadget to enter a date into this field.

Enumeration

Enumeration identifies an issue of a serial title by the numeric information printed on a particular issue. This may generally be defined as the volume, issue, and any item numbers displayed on the issue. Each prediction record includes an enumeration field. Enumeration patterns are defined on the Patterns tab associated with serial control record creation or modification. In the Enumeration Pattern area, six sequential enumeration levels allow you to establish the labels, starting numbers or letters, and the limits to which each part of an issue’s enumeration conforms.

The fields in the Enumeration Pattern area need to be entered to generate multiple prediction records for the expected enumeration of issues to be received.

The Replace Patterns helper is used to select an enumeration template pattern (or multiple patterns) from the selections provided. A template pattern may be designed and added to the pattern selections with the Make This Pattern A Template helper.

If the Enumeration is the same as the Chronology, both values may be entered, but only one appears.

For example if Directory 2003 is type in both the Enumeration and the Chronology fields, only Directory 2003 will display in the issue lists.

Expected

This field indicates whether or not the predicted issues are expected, either Y (Yes) or N (No).

Receipt Status

This column on the Expected tab contains the status, either none received or copies received. Click each display button to display details for each issue. Selecting this platform displays the same information as displays in the prediction and activity sections of the Show Issue Detail helper.
