Transaction Statistics Report

The Transaction Statistics (Statistics) report selects statistical and demographic information about item and user transactions and presents it in tabular format.

This report contains the following tabs.

Statistics cannot be collected until logs have been consolidated and the Statistics Log report has been run. Selections made should not conflict with the output options chosen; if only user data is selected, the output options should reflect user data in the column and rows.

If your column and row selections do not correspond with information in a selected record, the following type of message may display in your report log. In this example, Item Category 1 was selected for the Column on the Transaction Statistics tab, but none of the transactions selected by the report contained any information for Item Category 1.

All Item cat1’s selected
The columns are Item cat1’s, The rows are totals only.
The results will be counts.
74 transactions considered.
74 transactions rejected because of missing Item cat1
0 transactions selected.

By default, both request and response transactions are selected for the month preceding the report run date, and each row is totaled for the selected records. If any selection other than Total is selected for Column list or Row list on the Transaction Statistics tab, the column and row totals will still be included for the table.

Results are sorted by library, with a page break between the list of transactions for each library. If you select the Print Separate Reports for Each Library check box, an individual report for each library that shows only transactions in that library is produced. If the check box is selected, the Transaction Statistics report title displays in the finished reports list, and contains just the report log. Then, individual reports titled "Statistics(Report Title):LIBRARY" display in the finished reports list. Each of these individual reports contains a portion of the report log, and a list of transactions for the specified library.

If the Send Notices Automatically check box is selected in the Report Session wizard properties for the Reports module, each library’s list is automatically emailed to the email address listed in the library’s user record if the Print Separate Reports for Each Library option is selected.

If Generate Pipe Delimited Output is selected, the report creates a pipe-delimited file and places it in the /Rptprint directory with the naming convention of yyyymmdd_internalrptname.pipe. The report log lists the pipe-delimited report file name. This pipe-delimited file can be opened using a third-party application, such as a spreadsheet application.

If Print Separate Reports for Each Library and Generate Pipe Delimited Output are both selected, the report creates a separate pipe-delimited file per library and places it in the /Rptprint directory with the naming convention of yyyymmdd_library_rptid.pipe. Since users may run this report many times in a day, these file names are noted in the report log to make it easier for users to locate them.
