In statistics reports that allow you to make changes to the output of column and row displays, some of the column and row category options are more useful if they are qualified. For example, you may prefer to get a time frame rather than a particular moment, or a call number range rather than a specific call number. Or, you may wish to select a specific list of a certain kind of data, such as specific zip codes.
To use this gadget

In the gadget, ranges display in the order that they are added; however, when the Transaction Statistics report runs, the report results print the ranges in a logical sequence regardless of the order in which the ranges were added in the gadget.
You may make Transaction Statistic Choice selections on the Transaction Statistics Selection tab and on the Transaction Statistics tab. In WorkFlows, it is not necessary to limit values in the Transaction Statistics Selection tab in addition to making the same column and row selections in the Transaction Statistics tab. If Columns or Rows are defined for a value such as call numbers, only call numbers falling within those ranges will be selected and printed. However, the Transaction Statistics Selection tab is useful for limiting the selection of transactions to only those performed on particular values such as call number ranges, but then select on the Transaction Statistics tab to output column and row values other than call number.
The Transaction Statistic Choice gadget is used only when selecting or printing the following data.

The data the report is run against must include transactions that modify items or users within the specified range during the specified time frame to create meaningful reports.
Use caution when making Transaction Statistic Choice selections on both the Transaction Statistics Selection tab and on the Transaction Statistics tab for call number, flexible key, time, or zip code.
For example, on the Transaction Statistics Selection tab, if you specify a Time selection of 1700-1800, and in the Transaction Statistics tab you specify Time as Column category with 1900-2000 as the selection, the two tab selection combinations conflict. Only the transactions that occurred between 1700 and 1800 are selected, so no transactions in the range of 1900 and 2000 can be printed.
On the Transaction Statistics Selection tab, if you specify the Time selection as 1700-2000, and in the Transaction Statistics tab you specify only 1900-2000, all the transactions occurring between 1700 and 2000 are selected, but because of the output selection, only the transactions that occurred between 1900 and 2000 are actually printed.
The appropriate reports must be run to create the logs for successful transaction statistics reports to run.
The following information details the format for entering data using the Transaction Statistic Choice gadget.
Call number ranges are determined by the shelving key of the call number. For example, the Library of Congress call number HV6534 .N5 F75 1994 has a shelving key of HV 006534 .N5 F75 1994. A typical range selection might be HV6000 - HV7000. When the column heading prints, it would be HV 006000 - HV 007000. Any transactions on the HV6534 .N5 F75 1994 copy would be included in that range. If you want to get the full range for Library of Congress letter, such as all of the M class, you would need to type M - MZ999999. In a three letter class code, you would need to type the last part of the range to include a full three letter code, such as K-KZZ999999. If your range spans more than one letter, such as K-MZ999999, all of the transactions on the shelf from the first K through the last M will be included, regardless of the number of letters in the first part of the call numbers, such as KF6688. However, if you type only a single letter range, such as A-P, you will get transactions on all call numbers A through OZ999999, but you will not retrieve any of the P call numbers, because the shelving key P 000000 is implied, which does not exist. If you wish to include P call numbers in the range, type A-PZ999999. If you want P call numbers in a separate range, type another line beginning P1-PZ999999. Call number ranges cannot overlap, so you cannot type A-P, P-T, T-Z. The previous examples are based on arbitrary letter and number values only. To provide a more readable statistics table in your library, you may prefer to type actual Library of Congress values for beginning or ending and save the report as a template so that the columns or rows of call numbers do not need to be redefined. Only Library of Congress call numbers are discussed here, but other types of shelving keys and call number selection are based on the same principles.
Flexible key ranges are determined by the Title Key or Title Control Number of the bibliographic record. The range must include the appropriate prefix, and can span prefixes. For example a1 - a99999999 and o1 - o99999999 would separate transactions into those created in SirsiDynix Symphony and those loaded from OCLC. The range a1- n99999999 would include any records with prefixes between a and n.
Time must be typed HHMM in 24 hour military format. For example, 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. would be typed 0900 - 1700
Zip Code cannot be typed as a range, but statistics may be displayed for users in a particular zip codes. Up to 14 character codes may be typed. United States zip codes as well as non-United States zip codes are displayed, based on the Is US Zip Code field in Transaction Selection.
