Suggestions Tab

The Suggestions tab displays a list of matching items found by the Search Interest Wizard in the Outreach Services module. The Suggestions tab displays items the user might like to read for each interest profile. The search results are grouped in order of the profile rank, then are sorted according to the sort rule in the interest profile. If no sort rule is specified in the interest profile, the record sort in either last-in-first-out order or first-in-first-out order (depending on the system’s configuration).

The following fields are defined for the Suggestions tab.

Outreach Action for All Needed Items

In this field, you can specify a default value for the Outreach Action field for suggested items. Select one of the following values.

Select All automatically selects all of the suggested items for distribution to the outreach user.
Reject All automatically rejects all of the suggested items.
Individual allows you to manually select, reject, or ignore each item individually. This value is selected by default.

Interests

The list of retrieved items under each interest profile contains the following fields of information.

Requested contains the number of items requested for this interest profile.
Rank contains the rank of the interest profile.
Selected contains the number of items currently selected for this interest profile.
Needed contains the number of items still needed to meet the number of items requested for this interest profile.

Bibliographic information about the retrieved item displays, such as title, author, call number, item ID, copy number, library, and publication year.

Outreach Action

This field allows you to select one of the following actions for each retrieved item.

Note: If Select All is selected in the Outreach Action for All Needed Items field, SELECT is selected automatically for each retrieved item. If Reject All is selected in the Outreach Action for All Needed Items field, REJECT is selected automatically for each retrieved item. If desired, you can set the Outreach Action field to SELECT for all retrieved items first, then modify the Outreach Action for a particular item in the list if you want to ignore or reject the item.

IGNORE does not select the item for distribution to the outreach user, and no history record is created. The item may be suggested for the outreach user in the future. This selection is the default selection.

Note: Note If the Outreach Action list is left blank, the IGNORE selection is assumed.

REJECT declines the item for the outreach user, and creates a history record with a status of REJECT. The item will not be suggested for the outreach user in the future.
SELECT marks the item to be distributed to the outreach user, places a title level hold on the item, and creates a history record with a status of SELECT for the item.

Note: The title level hold is placed regardless of any user or item restrictions that would normally prevent a hold from being placed. The range of the title level hold is determined by the Range for Outreach Holds attribute in the Outreach wizard. (The Outreach wizard is in the Module Configuration Wizards group on the Configuration toolbar.)
