Card Replacement Fee Wizard

The Card Replacement Fee policy is used to control if a replacement card fee is created when a user’s card is marked as LOST. When a user’s card is marked lost using the User Lost Card wizard, the system determines what fee to apply based on the policy. The fee applied is controlled by the user profile of the user whose card is being marked LOST and the user’s library. The system creates a replacement card fee in the amount specified in the Card Replacement Fee policy that matches the user profile and user library.

For example, the following card replacement fee map is defined.

Since SirsiDynix Symphony searches for matching maps from the bottom of the card replacement fee list up, the order of the map lines is important. See Policy Operations for Map Policies.

Additionally, it is important to define a DEFAULT map line for ALL libraries and ALL user profiles as the first line of the fee map. If no specific user profile and library combination is found in the map, the DEFAULT card replacement fee will be applied.

From the List Policies window, you can create, display, modify, copy, or remove the Card Replacement Fee policies. Click Close to exit the wizard.

Attributes

The following attributes are defined for the Card Replacement Fee policies.

Name

This attribute uniquely identifies a specific Card Replacement Fee policy. This name is ten characters or less, and may not include spaces or punctuation, except for dash (-), underscore (_), and dollar sign ($). Additionally, the pipe character (|) may not be used.

Description

This attribute provides more information about the policy and its use by the library. The description may be up to 60 characters in length. Although the Description attribute may contain spaces and punctuation, the pipe character (|) cannot be used.

Library

The Library attribute in a fee map entry refers to a Library policy name. The Card Replacement Fee defined in each Card Replacement Fee entry may apply to one library or to ALL. Select a Library from the list. Use the Library Policy helper (Library Wizard) to make changes to existing Library policies.

The Library attribute refers to the user’s library.

User Profile

The User Profile attribute in a Card Replacement Fee entry refers to a User Profile policy name. Select a User Profile from the list.

Include/Exclude Selected Entries

Click one of the following options

Include Specified Entries in List - This option includes the selected user profiles in the list. If this option is selected, the user profiles selected will have a card replacement fee applied. All unlisted user profiles will not have a card replacement fee applied. For example, if the GRADUATE, GUEST and PUBLIC user profiles are charged a card replacement fee, you may add a single line in the card replacement fee list to include those user profiles. The unlisted user profiles will not be charged a card replacement fee.
Exclude Specified Entries in List - This option excludes the selected user profiles in the list. If this option is selected, the user profiles selected are excluded from having a card replacement fee applied. All profiles not listed will have a replacement fee applied. The exclude option is intended to be used as a way to list user profiles that are not charged a card replacement fee if more user profiles are charged a fee than are not. For example, if at your library all user profiles are charged a card replacement fee except for STAFF, you may add a single line in the card replacement fee list to exclude the user profile of STAFF. The unlisted user profiles will be charged a card replacement fee.
