Place Hold Wizard Properties

You can change certain system settings for the Place Hold wizard using the Set Properties window. The Place Hold wizard allows you to set the following properties.

Display Property Page

You can choose when to display the Place Hold wizard’s Set Properties window by selecting one of the following options:

Wizard Startup – displays the Set Properties window the first time you access the wizard until you end the wizard session or log off the client.
Never – does not display the Set Properties window the first time you access the wizard. If Never is selected and you want to open the Set Properties window, point to the wizard’s toolbar button, right-click, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu.

Depending on the value selected in Display Property Page, defaults may appear as the first step of the wizard. Property values that are changed in the first step of a wizard are retained only until the right-click method is used to set properties.

Behavior

On the Behavior tab, select or clear any of the following check boxes.

Pay Bills – Pay Bills allows a patron to pay bills while placing holds.
Clear Previous Item ID – Clears the previous item ID in the Place Hold wizard. If you want to place multiple holds on a title for different users, you can clear this property check box and the item ID will remain in the wizard.
Display Suspension Dates – Displays the Date Suspended and Date Unsuspended fields in the wizard. If this option is not selected, you will be unable to suspend a hold when it is placed.
Display Hold Level – Displays the Level options in the Place Hold wizard.
Display Hold Range – Displays the Range options in the Place Hold wizard.
Display Recall Status – Displays the recall status options in the Place Hold wizard.
Display Hold Reserve – Displays the Reserve Hold check box.
Display “First in Queue” – Displays the Make Hold First in Queue check box in the Place Hold wizard.

Reserve Item Hold Default

Hold Reserve Desk Item – Select this check box and both reserve items and non-reserve items can fill the hold. If this check box is cleared, reserve items cannot fill the hold.

Pickup Library Default

Select one of the following Pickup Library options. The Pickup Library is the library where the user will pick up the item when available.

Workstation Library – Specifies the login or station library as the default pickup library.
User Library – Specifies the library for whom the hold is placed as the default pickup library.

Default Delivery Service

Select Default Delivery Service display options for Books By Mail functionality.

Display Mail Flag – Specifies if the Mail Item to User check box is to display in the wizard.
Display Delivery Services – Specifies if the Delivery Method box displays in the wizard.
Display Estimated Shipping Costs – Specifies if the estimated shipping costs information associated with a selected Delivery Method is to display. This property becomes active only when the Display Delivery Services check box is selected.

Defaults

On the Defaults tab, you can customize your use of the wizard by setting the default values.

Level/Range

Level – Specifies the Level option used when placing a hold. You have these options:
Copy – Places a Copy level hold.
Title – Places a Title level hold.
Range – Specifies the Range option used when placing a hold. You have these options:
Library – Places a hold across all items available in the item’s library. The item is the item initially selected when submitting the hold.
Group – Places a hold across all copies at the libraries listed in Hold Group Libraries attribute of the station operator’s Library policy.
System – Places a hold across all copies in the system that are eligible to fill the hold.

Recall Status

Select one of the following fields to specify the type of recall that has been placed on an item.

Allow Recall – Specifies that if the current user has had the item for at least as long as the recall loan period specifies, even if the item is not due yet, then the item can be recalled.
Don’t Recall – Specifies that the hold request user wait until a copy of the requested item is returned. The item is not recalled.
Recall Now (RUSH) – Specifies that the current user’s charge due date is to be changed to the current date. A notice is sent to the current user indicating that the item is to be returned immediately.

Default Delivery Service

Select a Mail Services policy to determine the default delivery service for hold items that will be shipped via Books by Mail. The values in this list are defined in the Delivery Service policy.

Helpers

On the Helpers tab, you can select the helpers you want to display in the Place Hold wizard. Click a specific Helper button to display the Helper properties that you can set.
