Offline WorkFlows User Information Tab

The Offline WorkFlows User Information Tab contains the following information about a user.

User ID

The User ID field contains the ID of the new user. Typically, libraries use random numbers associated with barcodes for unique user identification. Other alphanumeric characters, such as a driver’s license number, can also be entered according to the unique numbering or naming scheme established by the library. The User ID field is limited to a maximum of 20 alphanumeric characters.

Alternate ID

The Alternate ID field contains the alternative ID of the new user. The Alternate ID field is an optional alphanumeric character field that can be used for a unique number or name different from the User ID. If the library uses random barcodes as user IDs, the alternate ID can be an individually significant number (or name) like a Social Security number, student ID number, or driver’s license number. The Alternate ID field is limited to a maximum of 20 alphanumeric characters.

Title

This field contains the user’s title, such as Dr. or Ms.

First Name

This field contains the user’s first name, up to 20 characters in length.

Preferred Name

This field contains the user’s preferred name or nickname, up to 20 characters in length. If the Use Preferred Name check box is selected, this name will display in the WorkFlows and e-Library clients instead of the user’s first name. The user’s preferred name will also print in reports.

Use Preferred Name

If you select the Use Preferred Name check box, the user’s preferred name will display in the WorkFlows and e-Library clients instead of the user’s first name. The user’s preferred name will also print in reports.

Middle Name

This field contains the user’s middle name, up to 20 characters in length. Typically, an initial is used.

Last Name

This field contains the user’s last name, up to 60 characters in length.

Suffix

This field contains the name suffix, such as Jr., Sr., and III, up to 10 characters in length.

Library

The Library you select becomes the library associated with the new user record. Library field values are defined in the Library policies set up by your SirsiDynix Symphony administrator.

User Department

The User Department you specify becomes the department associated with the new user record. This field is an optional, free-text statistical category that may be configured not to display.

Birth Date

The Birth Date field is an optional, numeric statistical category that the library decides how to use, but usually contains the user’s full birth date (month, day, and four-digit year). The label can be something other than Birth Date. Because the field is optional, it can be configured not to display.

User Profile

The User Profile field contains a User Profile policy name. The User Profile policy determines the user’s privileges, loan period, and fine rate. An example of a User Profile policy name is STUDENT. When creating a user, this field is required.

Language

The Language field is required. Select a language from the drop-down list. Notices sent to the user will be in the specified language. The languages presented in this list are defined in the Language policy.

User Category Fields

These demographic fields contain values from the User Category policies. Your library decides what type of information will be used in these fields and labels them appropriately. The generic SirsiDynix Symphony labels for these fields are User cat1, User cat2, User cat3, User cat4, User cat5, User cat6, User cat7, User cat8, User cat9, User cat10, User cat11, and User cat12.
