Outreach Wizard

The Outreach module configuration wizard specifies the hold range that will be used when Title level holds are placed automatically by the Search Interest wizard, the Search Route Interest Records report, and the Search User Interest Records report on materials that are requested for outreach users.

To display the current configuration settings for the Outreach module, click the Outreach wizard icon in the Module Configuration toolbar. The Outreach Policy window displays. You can modify the policy attributes, and click Save to save your changes, or click Close to exit the wizard.

Attributes

The Outreach wizard displays the following attributes.

Description

This attribute provides more information about the policy and its use by the library. The description may be up to 60 characters in length. Although the Description attribute may contain spaces and punctuation, the pipe character (|) cannot be used.

Range for Outreach Holds

This attribute specifies the range of the Title level hold that is placed automatically by the Search Interest wizard, the Search Route Interest Records report, and the Search User Interest Records report. Select one of the following options.

Library — Places a Title level hold across the copies available in the library of the copy the user selected.
Group — Places Title level holds across all libraries listed in Hold Group Libraries attribute of the login user's Library policy. The hold will be placed on items belonging to any library in the group of libraries to which the login user belongs. This attribute setting is selected by default.
System — Places Title level holds across all copies in the system that are eligible to fill the hold. If no qualified copies exist for the title, the user is prompted for an override code to place the hold on copies that would otherwise be ineligible for the hold.

Important: Demand Management will not prevent the user from placing a hold that can never be filled, so exercise caution when typing an override code to place a hold on a copy that would not normally be considered to fill the hold.
