Client ID Wizard

SirsiDynix Symphony uses the Client ID policy in determining how to process commands. Each Client ID policy contains a client type, which SirsiDynix Symphony checks to determine whether to execute commands for a staff client or for a patron client. SirsiDynix Symphony can also produce statistics about the transactions performed using a particular Client ID policy.

From the List Policies window, you can create, display, modify, copy, or remove the Client ID policies. Click Close to exit the wizard.

Client ID policies delivered with SirsiDynix Symphony are read-only and cannot be modified.

Attributes

The Client ID wizard displays the following attributes.

Client ID

This attribute specifies the Client ID number of the Client ID policy. This information is useful for SirsiDynix Symphony API users sending commands that require a Client ID number. This value cannot be modified.

Note: All custom client IDs will have a value of 100 or greater. Client ID numbers less than 100 are reserved by SirsiDynix Symphony.

Name

This attribute uniquely identifies a specific Client ID policy. This name is ten characters or less, and may not include spaces or punctuation, except for dash (-), underscore (_), and dollar sign ($). Additionally, the pipe character (|) may not be used.

Description

This attribute provides more information about the policy and its use by the library. The description may be up to 60 characters in length. Although the Description attribute may contain spaces and punctuation, the pipe character (|) cannot be used.

Client Type

This attribute identifies the type of client this policy represents. Select a type from the drop-down list. Select PATRON if SirsiDynix Symphony should treat the client with this Client ID policy as a patron client; select STAFF if SirsiDynix Symphony should treat the client with this Client ID policy as a staff client.

SirsiDynix recommends creating custom labels for any custom Client ID policies you create; otherwise, reports that print output on custom client IDs will print untranslated labels. If you need assistance with creating custom labels, contact SirsiDynix Customer Support.
