User Lost Card Wizard

The User Lost Card wizard is used to replace a user’s lost library card.

To replace a lost library card

The selected user record displays.

If you are making a payment using BLUEcloud Commerce via a card reader device, a dialog displays containing the subtotal and the following message:

Waiting for card swipe...

Swipe the card. If the card swipe is successful, this dialog closes and the payment completes.

Bill card replacement fee to user

Click Yes to pay the bill now or to bill the user. Click No to close the dialog.

A dialog box displays that confirms the User has been assigned a new User ID and that the old User ID has been deactivated. If a bill was created or paid, payment type and payment amount information also displays.

After you have assigned a new card to the user, click one of the following options:

Mark Another User’s Card Lost to mark another user’s lost card
Close to exit the wizard

Important Considerations When Using this Wizard

The LOSTCARD user profile must be defined on your system for this wizard to function properly. Do not remove the LOSTCARD profile from your system. (Some older systems use the superseded user profile configuration. If so, a NOACCESS User Access policy and a PUBLIC Environment policy must exist on the system.)
After the user is assigned a new library card, the lost card is deactivated, and the user record is assigned a User Profile Policy of LOSTCARD. Also, the Department field of the user record is updated with the value “LOST.” If the lost card is found later, it cannot be used.
To reinstate a user’s lost card, you will need to modify the user’s record by changing the LOSTCARD user profile and completely clearing the Department field.
If the user is blocked, an alert window will display.
The User Display Libraries attribute controls which libraries’ user records you can search and display. The User Maintenance Libraries attribute controls which libraries’ user records you can create and modify. Both these attributes can be found in the Library Policy wizard.
It may be possible to find a user by a previous user ID, if configured in policies. Go to FAQs: Searching User Records.
