FAQs: Modifying User Information

How do I modify multiple users?

You can use the Modify a Different User command in the Modify User wizard to continue modifying user records without leaving the wizard between user record searches.

To modify multiple user records

If a list displays, select the user, and then click Modify User.

How do I specify which address is the user’s primary address?

You can enter address information on the Addresses Tab of the user record.

To specify which address is the primary address, select the appropriate option in the Primary field: Address 1, Address 2, or Address 3.

Be sure to designate both a postal address and an email address in the Addresses tab as the primary address. This allows you to send email notices to patrons who want them, and to generate postal address information for collection agencies with the Debt Collection reports if desired.

How do I manually bar a user from using library services?

You can prevent a user from being able to use library services by manually editing the user record and setting the user status to BARRED, if your login has sufficient privileges to modify user records.

How do I reinstate a BARRED user?

You can manually change a BARRED user’s status to the correct circulation status with the Reinstate User selection in the Status field, if your login has sufficient privileges to modify user records.

The Reinstate User selection displays in the Status field only when the selected user’s status is currently BARRED.

The BLOCKED, DELINQUENT, and OK statuses are maintained by the system. If you change a user’s status from BARRED using the Reinstate User selection, the system may set the status to BLOCKED or DELINQUENT instead of OK if the user has unpaid fines or overdue items.
