Charge History Tab

The Charge History tab displays in user records and item records.

Charge History for Users

The Charge History tab displays as part of the user record when the Charge History feature is used in the library. A charge history is created for a user when the library policies and user record are set up to record when the user checks out and checks in an item. The list of items charged and discharged for a user are kept as a charge history until the Purge Charge History report is run.

After the Purge Charge History report is run, the charge history information for the selected users is removed permanently from the system and cannot be retrieved unless you have current backup files.

To display the Charge History tab in the Display User wizard, select the Show Charge History Tab check box in the wizard properties.

The Charge History tab displays the following information about items that a particular user has checked out and checked in.

The item charge histories are listed in a table format.

To display information about individual items in the Charge History list, click the item ID glossary.

Charge History for Items

The Charge History tab in an item record shows the charge history for a particular item. The Charge History tab for items is under the Call Number/Item tab when you display the item record in the Item Search and Display wizard.

The item charge history displays the following information for an item.

User ID
Name
Date Charged
Date Due
Date/Time Discharged
Discharge Library

Title

The Title field contains an item’s main title, using initial capitalization. This field is cataloged using the 245 tag.

Item ID

This field uniquely identifies an item and is also called a barcode. The item ID is typically the human readable number on the item’s barcode. The item ID can be up to 16 characters in length.

User ID

This field uniquely identifies a user. The user ID can be up to 20 characters in length.

Name

This field displays user’s name. The display of the user’s name is configurable. By default, the Name field displays Last Name Suffix, First Name Middle Title.

If the user’s Preferred Name is selected to display instead the the user’s first name, then the Name field displays Last Name, Suffix, Preferred Name Middle Title.

Date Charged

This field displays the date and time on which the item was most recently charged or checked out to the current user.

Date Due

This field contains the date and time an item is due back in the library.

Date/Time Discharged

This field displays the date and time on which the item was most recently discharged from the user.

Discharge Library

In multilibrary systems, this field displays the library where the item was discharged.
