Create Reserve Wizard Properties

You can change certain system settings for the Create Reserve wizard using the Set Properties window. The Create Reserve wizard allows you to set the following properties.

Display Property Page

You can choose when to display the Create Reserve wizard’s Set Properties window by selecting one of the following options.

Wizard Startup – displays the Set Properties window the first time you access the wizard until you end the wizard session or log off the client.
Never – does not display the Set Properties window the first time you access the wizard. If Never is selected and you want to open the Set Properties window, point to the wizard’s toolbar button, right-click, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu.

Depending on the value selected in Display Property Page, defaults may appear as the first step of the wizard. Property values that are changed in the first step of a wizard are retained only until the right-click method is used to set properties.

Behavior

On the Behavior tab, you can select or clear any of the following check boxes.

Carryover Course ID Upon Wizard Startup – automatically enters the most recently used course ID in the Course ID field.
Carryover User ID Upon Wizard Startup – automatically enters the most recently used user ID in the Instructor ID field.

Defaults

On the Defaults tab, you can set defaults to customize your use of the wizard.

Basic Info

Under Basic Info, you can set default values for these options.

Circulation Rule – specifies the default circulation rule to be used when charging the reserve item. Values for this field are set in the Circulation Rule policy.
Expires (MM/DD/YYYY) – date gadget where you can set the date that individual copies can be released from the Reserve Desk, or the date after which students of an instructor or students enrolled in a course will no longer need the title at the Reserve Desk. If an expiration date is not supplied for individual copies, SirsiDynix Symphony uses the Expires (MM/DD/YYYY) date.
Alt Circ Rule – specifies the default alternate circulation rule to be used when charging the reserved item within the number of minutes before the Reserve Desk closes as specified in the Reserve Desk policy. Values for this field are set in the Circulation Rule policy. The Alt Circ Rule field displays only if the Allow field under Alternate Rules in the Reserve Desk Policy is set to Yes.
Status – reflects what is happening to the materials being placed on reserve or being removed from reserve. The value in this field tracks the status of the linked individual instructor/course reserve records. The value for this field can be set to DORMANT, COLLECT, CURRENT, or RETURN.

Select or clear any of the following check boxes.

Allow Manual Circ Rule – allows an exception to be made for a record at a given Reserve Desk and allows any valid circulation rule to be manually entered into the Alt Circ Rule field. If this check box is not selected, an alternate circulation rule cannot be manually set when a reserved item is being charged. The Allow Manual Circ rule check box displays in reserve control records only if the Allow option in the Reserve Desk policy is set to Yes.
Auto Select Copies – allows individual copies associated with the reserve control record to be automatically updated by reports designed to modify the status of reserve copies. This option is used along with the Copies Needed field on the reserves control record. Currently, only the Reserves Pickup List, Update (Rsvpickup) and Reserves Reshelving List (Rsvreturn) reports can automatically select and modify the copy status to a new value.
Keep Copies at Desk – specifies the Reserves Reshelving List report set the copy statuses to KEPT AT DESK instead of NOT ON RESERVE or FLAGGED. These copies will not be returned to their home location. Instead, they will continue to be physically located at the Reserve Desk but will circulate as standard items.

Individual Reserves

Under Individual Reserves, you can select default values for these options.

New Stage Value For All Reserves – determines the relationship of the instructor and course to any copies of the linked call number. This option controls whether the instructor and course display in the reserve list in the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC). When modifying a stage, the stage to which the record will be changed is referred to as New Stage.
Stage – indicates the stage to which the record will be changed if a stage was previously set.
Expires (MM/DD/YYYY) – calendar gadget that contains the date after which students of an instructor or students enrolled in a course will no longer need the title at the Reserve Desk (usually at the end of a course term).

List of Copies

Under List of Copies, you can select the default values for these options.

New Status For All Copies – sets the default status for all copies associated with the reserve control record. The value you select in this field displays in the New Status for All Copies field at the top of the Copies tab. Use this field if you want to assign the same reserve status to all of the copies at once. Valid values for this field include FLAGGED, KEPT AT DESK, NOT ON RESERVE, ON RESERVE, and PICKUP.
