FAQs: Adding Keyboard Layouts in Windows 2000
Before adding keyboard layouts for different languages, you need to install multilingual support.
Follow these steps to add multilingual support.

On the Start menu, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. |

Click Regional Options. |

Under Language Settings for the System, select the check boxes for language supports you want to install. |

Windows will prompt you to insert the Windows 2000 system CD. Follow the CD prompts to install the selected language supports. |
To add keyboard layouts for different languages, follow these steps.

On the Start menu, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. |

Click the Input Locales tab. |
|

Under Installed Input Locales, click Add. |
|

In the Input Locale box, use the drop down list to select a keyboard layout, and click OK. The selected keyboard will appear in the Installed Input Locales list. |

Add as many other keyboard layouts as you would like. |

Click Apply, then exit the Control Panel. |
If you click the Language icon in the task bar (bottom, right corner of the window), a list of keyboards will appear from which you can make a selection. Once you change the keyboard, the keys’ assignments will be changed accordingly to that language/country’s keyboard (or input-locale).
