Extended Information Tab

Extended Information or Extended Info displays for different kinds of SirsiDynix Symphony records. These fields include additional information about the record in a set of entry fields, which can be configured by your library. Extended information usually displays in a separate tab.

In Offline WorkFlows, when users are created or modified, the TEMPLATE list of entries displays. When user information is displayed in WorkFlows or the e–Library the FULL list of entries displays.

When extended information is created, entries can be added or deleted using the Create First Row Helper, Insert Row Before Helper, Insert Row After Helper, and Delete Row Helper.

The following list identifies the most common extended information entries.

Note

In the Extended Info tab, this field contains a note to be added to the record information. Each entry can be any number of lines. For example, an item may have a note such as ”Gift from the Friends of the Library.” Acquisitions audit trail information may be written to this field.

Comment

This text is used to describe an individual record. This type of comment is used in records other than bibliographic records, such as user records and order records.

In the Extended Info tab, this entry ID field contains specific comments about the record. Each entry may be any number of lines. Acquisitions audit trail information may be written to this field.

Keep in mind that if no text is entered, comments do not display in windows that cannot be modified.

Photo

In the Extended Info tab, this field contains the file name of a user photograph. The photograph displays in the user record display when you use the User Display wizard. You can enter only one file name in the Photo field. The photograph files must be in either GIF or JPG format, and must be stored in the /Unicorn/Custom/Photos directory on the library server. In the Photo field, the patron photograph file name must be entered without the .gif or .jpg file extension. For example, if the patron photograph file name is janedoe.gif, enter janedoe in the Photo field. The PHOTO entry ID must be present in the User Extended Information (USEREX) Format policy to support the display of a picture in the user record.

Staff Note

The staff note field must be included in Extended Info if your library plans to use Debt Collection reports. This field is updated with debt collection information when a user qualifies for collection agency, when updates are made to the user’s account after the user has been sent to collection agency, or when the user no longer qualifies for collection agency (account has been paid in full).
