Change Title Link Helper: Serial Control

The Change Title Link helper allows you to change the title that is currently associated with a serial control record. The helper displays when you are modifying a serial control record, or after you’ve created a serial control and are in the modify state of the Create Control wizard.

When you use this helper, the following changes will happen.

The serial control will be unlinked from the existing title and linked to the new title.
All links to the control record (expected, received, claimed, routing, and more) will be linked to the new title.
The MARC holdings from the old title will move to the new title.
The SISAC ID will change from the ISSN of the old title to the ISSN of the new title. If the new title did not have an ISSN, the serial SISAC ID field will be empty.

To change a serial control title link

Bibliographic link changed to: [Title Control Number] You may want to check the SISAC ID, vendor title #, and subscription ID as well as the base call number. If copies were created when issues were received, you may want to transfer copies to the new bibliographic record.

Warnings You May See When Using this Helper

If the serial control record contains a current purchase order and line number link, you will not be able to change the title link until you remove the purchase order link from the existing title.
If outstanding claims are associated with the existing serial control, a warning message will display, and the user will have the opportunity to decide whether or not to change the SISAC ID to the ISSN of the new bibliographic record.
If ISXN validation is configured, you may see a warning if the new SISAC ID is not valid.
If you had not saved your changes before using the helper, the wizard will prompt you to save your changes first.
