Shipping Schedule Wizard

The Shipping Schedule policy is used to establish pickup and delivery times for various shipping methods, such as UPS, Federal Express, or a library delivery service, so that sufficient time may be allocated during the booking process to prepare materials in time for shipping.

The Shipping Schedule policy is referenced from the User Profile Wizard.

From the List Policies window, you can create, display, modify, copy, or remove the Shipping Schedule policies. Click Close to exit the wizard.

Attributes

The Shipping Schedule wizard displays the following attributes.

Name

The Name attribute uniquely identifies the shipping schedule. The name should be descriptive, since policy names are used in reports and in the workstation. This name is ten characters or less, and may not include spaces or punctuation, except for dash (-), underscore (_), and dollar sign ($). Additionally, the pipe character (|) may not be used.

Description

This attribute provides more information about the policy and its use by the library. The description may be up to 60 characters in length. Although the Description attribute may contain spaces and punctuation, the pipe character (|) cannot be used. The description might include information about situations in which this policy would be used or may describe circumstances in which this shipping method would be used.

Pickup Time

A series of days and times are typed in the Pickup Time attribute to indicate when items to be shipped are picked up by the shipper. Pickup times are used to calculate on which day an item will be shipped, taking into consideration preparation time and staff availability. For each day selected in the Pickup Time attribute, one or more times for pickup may be typed. Use the Pickup Time gadget to specify the days and times.

Transit Time

This attribute specifies the amount of time that the item will be in transit during the shipping process. This time is useful when calculating when a previously shipped item will be returned, so any post-use processing can be scheduled in the booking time line. Type the days, hours, and/or minutes required for transit.

Closed Dates

This attribute specifies a list of dates when shipping will not be allowed. When calculating booking time lines, these dates will be skipped. Use the Closed Dates gadget to specify these dates.
