Shipping Wizard

The Shipping policy is used in the Ship field of distribution segments in order records to specify messages or shipping instructions to be printed on the purchase order.

From the List Policies window, you can create, display, modify, copy, or remove the Shipping policies. Click Close to exit the wizard.

Attributes

The Shipping policy contains the following attributes.

Name

This attribute represents a specific shipping instruction. This name is ten characters or less, and may not include spaces or punctuation, except for dash (-), underscore (_), and dollar sign ($). Additionally, the pipe character (|) may not be used. The Shipping policy definition is used in distribution segments of order line records to indicate whether any special shipping instructions should be printed on the purchase order.

Description

This attribute provides more information about the policy and its use by the library. The description may be up to 60 characters in length. Although the Description attribute may contain spaces and punctuation, the pipe character (|) cannot be used.

Type

The Type attribute determines if shipping instructions are printed for the order line and if additional information from user records is included as part of the instructions. There are three types of actions to be taken when printing a purchase order that contains an order line that includes a distribution segment. Select an action type from the list.

No Action — If a Shipping policy specifies this type of action, no shipping instruction message is printed for the orderline.
Print Message Only — If a Shipping policy specifies this type of action, a message and notice text is printed on the purchase order, but the address is not.
Print Name — If a Shipping policy specifies this type of action, the user’s name and notice text is printed below the shipping text message for the user ID specified in a distribution segment.
Print Name and Address — If a Shipping policy specifies this type of action, the user’s name and address as well as notice text is printed below the shipping text message for the user ID specified in a distribution segment.

Message

This attribute contains the message to be printed on the purchase order; this message is associated with the action type. The message applies only to the specified distribution copies. The term “COPIES” is a variable that is replaced by the actual number of copies defined in the distribution segment for a line item. This text becomes part of the purchase order. Shipping policies of the No Action type do not need message text.

Notice Text

This attribute determines if notice text is included on the orderline and links the policy to a file in the /Unicorn/Notices directory. Notice text will be output after the Shipping policy message. Select a notice text file from the list.
