Policy Operations for the Format Policy
Format policies may be created, displayed, copied, modified, or removed. The following procedures outline the general steps using the Display, Modify, Copy, or Remove operations.
Only one user at a time can work with policies. This is a safeguard to prevent users from modifying the same policy at the same time.
SirsiDynix strongly recommends that you do not remove policies, particularly format policies. Contact SirsiDynix Customer Support before removing policies.
Cancel
Click Cancel to close the current window.
Close
Click Close to exit the wizard.
Copy
The Copy operation allows you to copy the current values of an existing Format policy into a new policy.
To copy an existing policy

Click a Format wizard, and the List Policies window opens. |

The List Policies window displays a table of current Format policy definitions. |
|

Select the policy you want to copy and click Copy. A dialog box opens displaying with the name of the policy that is being copied. |

Type a name in the New Policy Name box and click OK. |
|

|
Modify the attribute values on the Basic tab as needed. |
|

|
Click the Entries tab, and click Modify. |
|

|
Modify the attribute values in the entry ID synonym lists as needed. |
|

|
To modify the individual entries, select an entry, then click Modify. Modify attributes on the entry tabs as needed, then click Save. |

Click the Fixed Fields tab and modify attributes of fixed fields as needed. |
|

|
Click Save. Clicking Cancel closes the window and cancels the operation. |
Create
Click Create to create a new Format policy. When a new Format policy is created, you will need to provide attribute values on each displayed tab. Descriptions of these attributes are discussed within each wizard topic.
Display
The Display operation allows you to display a Format policy’s current values.
To display a policy

Select the policy you want to view and click Display. |
|

Review the displayed information on the Basic, Entries, and Fixed Fields tabs. |

On the Entries tab, select an entry, and click Display to continue reviewing attribute values for selected entries. |

On the Fixed Fields tab, select a fixed field entry, and click Display to continue reviewing attribute values for fixed fields. |

|
Click Cancel to close the current window. |
Modify
The Modify operation allows you to modify the current values of an existing Format policy.
To modify a format

Click a format wizard, and the List Policies window opens. |

The List Policies window displays a table of current policy definitions. |

Select the policy you want to modify and click Modify. |
|

The Basic, Entries, and Fixed Fields tabs appear. |

On the Basic tab, modify attribute values as needed. |

Click the Entries tab, and click Modify. |

Modify the attribute values in the entry ID synonym lists as needed. |

Remove
The Remove operation allows your to remove a Format policy.
To remove a policy,

Click a wizard, and the List Policies window opens. |

The List Policies window displays a table of current policy definitions. |

Select the policy you wish to remove and click Remove. |
|

|
A confirmation dialog box displays asking you to confirm that it is safe to remove the policy. |

Review the name of the policy to be removed and click Yes. Clicking No closes the window and cancels the operation. |
