New User Registration Wizard

The New User Registration wizard is used to register a new user for your library. Depending on how wizard properties are set and if patron photos are configured to appear for your library, it can also be used to add a photo to the user record.

To register a new user

The Identify New User window displays.

Note: If the Auto-generated User ID property is selected in the wizard properties to generate a user ID automatically, the User ID field will not display on the User Registration window.

If the wizard properties are set to not auto-generate a user ID, you can still auto-generate an ID by typing AUTO in the User ID box during registration.

The User Registration window displays.

Note: If your library uses the barcode validation feature, a message appears if you type or scan a user ID with an invalid barcode format in the User ID field. You must scan or type a valid user ID in the User ID field before continuing.

User name is registered

User information has been changed. Do you want to save?

Click Yes to save the record, No to not save the record, or Cancel to continue modifying user information.

To add a patron photo

After a new user is registered, select one of the following options:

Register Another User to register another user
Make More Changes to make more changes to this user registration
Clone/Copy This User to New User to create a new user based on the user you just created
Close to exit the wizard

Important Considerations When Using this Wizard

You should designate both a postal address and an email address in the Addresses tab as the primary address. This allows you to send email notices to patrons who want them, and generate postal address information for collection agencies with the Debt Collection reports if desired.
You can add additional information such as notes and comments on the Extended Information tab and Addresses tab. Use the Before and After helpers to add entry boxes before or after the entry field in which the insertion point (cursor) is positioned. Use the Delete helper to delete an entry field.
If your library permits users to have multiple user IDs, the User ID Manager helper may be available for you to create additional user IDs for a user.
