Order Search

To search orders

Select the index you want to search from the list. For information on catalog searches, go to the Item Search topic.

If no text is typed when searching or browsing, and only the Order ID index is selected, all orders in the specified library are retrieved.

You can double-click an order in the search hitlist to select it and perform the wizard action.

Acquisitions Display Libraries settings in the Library policies determine which libraries’ order records you can search. See FAQs: Understanding Display and Maintenance Libraries for more information.

Using a Catalog Search

If you searched orders using a catalog search, such as author or title, under Change Order Display Options, you can change the Order list display by selecting the following filters.

Acquisitions Library – Displays orders for the selected acquisitions library. If ALL libraries are set to display, you will only display those orders in the libraries permitted by the Acquisition Display Libraries attribute of the Library policy associated with your login.
All – Displays all orders for the title in the selected acquisitions library.
Delivered – Displays orderlines with user distributions with an actual Date Delivered.
Loaded – Displays orderlines with holding distributions with an actual Date Loaded.
Open – Displays orderlines with holding distributions where the Date Loaded is NEVER.
User – Displays orderlines with user distributions where the Date Delivered is NEVER.

Search Types

Keyword

The Keyword option locates and displays order records that begin with the terms you typed in the search index you selected. In a search, implied truncation is used—SirsiDynix Symphony assumes any characters typed in the Search For field may match more than one order record. By typing one or more characters of the order ID, you may display a list of orders.

In the Order Search, several keyword search combinations are not available: keyword/call number, keyword/title control number, and keyword/item ID. Only the browse and exact search options are available with these search indexes.

Browse

The Browse option produces a list in the alphabetic vicinity of the term you typed from the browse index you selected, which may then be browsed forward or backward. When browsing, SirsiDynix Symphony uses implied right truncation.

In the Order Search, some browse search combinations are not available: browse/item ID and browsing by all order/invoice/vendor search qualifiers. Only the keyword and exact search options are available with these search indexes.

Exact

The Exact option displays a single record of the search index you selected. The Exact lookup is best for specific number or code searches. If the exact ID is not in the database, a message displays that the information was not found. For example, when searching by Order ID, if you search PO-25, the order with that exact order ID will appear; PO-26 will not appear.

Current

The current order is set from the highlighted record in the order search hit list, typically the record most recently displayed or modified. When you select the current orderline, the entire order will display, rather than a specific orderline.

The Current option displays only if a record of the type you are searching has been displayed or modified during your workstation session.
